Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 28, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information EngKor ("we", "us") collects, how we use it, and your choices. It applies to engkorkorean.com and the EngKor Service.
1. What We Collect
Account information: name, email address, and (for signup during the beta period) the access code used to register.
Profile information: your time zone, your role (member or leader), and your challenge cohort.
Submissions: the writing screenshots and speaking audio recordings you upload as part of the daily challenge, and the leader feedback written about them.
Payment information: we do not collect or store your card details. Payments are handled entirely by Paddle, our payment provider; we only receive confirmation that a payment succeeded and basic billing status.
Technical information: standard information your browser sends automatically (such as general device/browser type) as part of normal web hosting on GitHub Pages.
We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising trackers.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account and route you to the correct dashboard (member or leader).
- To let your assigned leader review your writing and speaking submissions and give you weekly feedback.
- To calculate and display your streak, completion rate, and the community leaderboard.
- To process your subscription payment and manage billing (via Paddle).
- To communicate with you about your account or the Service (e.g., confirming signup, billing notices).
We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
3. Who Can See Your Submissions
- You can always see your own Submissions and feedback.
- Your assigned challenge leader can see your Submissions to provide correction and feedback.
- Other members cannot see your Submissions. The community leaderboard only shows names and a completion percentage, never the underlying content.
4. Where Your Data Is Stored
Your account and Submissions are stored in our database, hosted by Supabase. We use the following third-party services to operate EngKor:
- Supabase: authentication and database hosting.
- Paddle: payment processing and subscription billing.
These providers may process data outside of Korea. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer, which is necessary to provide the Service.
5. Data Retention
We keep your account and Submissions for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or ask us to, we will delete your personal data and Submissions within a reasonable time, except where we need to keep limited records for legal or billing purposes (e.g., payment records Paddle is required to retain).
6. Your Rights
You can:
- Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate information.
- Ask us to delete your account and associated data.
- Cancel your subscription at any time.
To exercise any of these, contact us at engkorproject@gmail.com.
7. Children's Privacy
EngKor is not directed at children under 14. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 14.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service evolves. We will post the updated version here with a new "Last updated" date, and notify active subscribers of material changes.
