Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of EngKor (the "Service", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

EngKor is operated by Jisoo Lee, an individual seller based in the Republic of Korea, not a registered company.

1. What EngKor Is

EngKor is a Korean-English language exchange community. We offer:

• A free Discord community.
• A paid Monthly Challenge: a structured writing and speaking practice program with weekly correction from a real staff member, a personal progress dashboard, and a community leaderboard.

2. Accounts

• You must provide accurate information (name, email) when creating an account.
• During the current beta period, account creation requires an access code provided by EngKor. This is temporary and may change as the Service opens up.
• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
• You must be at least 14 years old to use the Service.

3. Subscription and Billing

• The Monthly Challenge is a recurring monthly subscription, billed in advance.
• Payments are processed by Paddle.com Market Ltd ("Paddle"), our payment provider and merchant of record. Paddle handles billing, taxes, and payment security for all transactions. By subscribing, you also agree to Paddle's Buyer Terms.
• Prices shown during the pilot period are discounted and may change for future cohorts. We will notify you before any price change affecting your active subscription.
• Your subscription renews automatically each month unless you cancel before the next billing date. You can cancel any time from your account or by contacting us; cancellation stops future billing but does not retroactively refund the current period (see our Refund Policy).

4. Your Content

• You retain ownership of everything you submit (writing screenshots, speaking recordings, and any other content) ("Submissions").
• By submitting content, you grant EngKor a limited license to store, process, and display your Submissions as needed to operate the Service, e.g., showing your writing to your assigned leader for correction, and showing your own history back to you.
• We do not sell your Submissions or share them publicly. See our Privacy Policy for details on who can see them.
• Do not submit content that is illegal, infringes someone else's rights, or is unrelated to language learning.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Share your access code or account with people who were not invited.
• Attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or other members' data.
• Use the Service for any purpose other than personal language learning.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

6. Service Availability

EngKor is an early-stage, actively developed product. We do our best to keep the Service available and your data safe, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access, and features may change as we improve the product. We will give reasonable notice before any change that materially reduces what your subscription includes.

7. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, EngKor is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months before the claim arose.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. If we make material changes, we will notify active subscribers (e.g., by email) before the changes take effect.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
