Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of EngKor (the "Service", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

EngKor is operated by Jisoo Lee, a registered individual business (개인사업자) based in the Republic of Korea. Full business details are listed in the footer of this page.

1. What EngKor Is

EngKor is a Korean-English language exchange community. We offer:

• A free Discord community.
• A paid 30-Day Challenge: a structured writing and speaking practice program with weekly correction from a real Korean mentor, a personal progress dashboard, and a community leaderboard.
• A free 1-day trial of the 30-Day Challenge for first-time members (see Section 3).

2. Accounts

• You must provide accurate information (name, email) when creating an account.
• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
• You must be at least 14 years old to use the Service.

3. Pricing and Payment

• The 30-Day Challenge is a 30-day program that starts on the day you pay. If you extend while you already have an active pass, the new 30 days start the day after your current pass ends. Each 30-day pass is paid for separately, in advance.
• Payments are processed by PayPal. PayPal is a payment service provider, not our merchant of record. EngKor, not PayPal, is responsible for billing and for handling any applicable taxes on these transactions. See PayPal's user agreement for the terms that apply to your PayPal account and payment method.
• Paid enrollment is currently not available to residents of the European Union or the United Kingdom. If your PayPal account is registered in one of these countries, your payment will not be processed and you will not be charged. You can still join with a valid referral code.
• Prices shown during the pilot period are discounted and may change for future purchases. We will notify you before any price change affecting your active enrollment.
• Free 1-day trial. If you have never joined the 30-Day Challenge before, you can try it once for free, without payment details. The trial covers one day: the day you start it, in your time zone. You can submit that day's writing and speaking, and a mentor will aim to send feedback on both within 2 days. The trial is limited to one per person and one per account, and we may decline or end trials that use multiple accounts or false information. The trial does not turn into a paid pass on its own. If you want to continue, you choose to buy a 30-day pass, which starts on the day you pay.
• The 30-Day Challenge does not auto-renew or auto-charge you. When your pass is about to end, you can choose to extend it by paying for another 30 days. If you do nothing, your access simply ends when your 30 days are over. There is no subscription to cancel. You just choose not to extend.

4. Your Content

• You retain ownership of everything you submit (writing screenshots, speaking recordings, and any other content) ("Submissions").
• By submitting content, you grant EngKor a limited license to store, process, and display your Submissions as needed to operate the Service, e.g., showing your writing to your mentor for correction, and showing your own history back to you.
• We do not sell your Submissions or share them publicly. See our Privacy Policy for details on who can see them.
• Do not submit content that is illegal, infringes someone else's rights, or is unrelated to language learning.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Share your account with anyone else.
• Attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or other members' data.
• Use the Service for any purpose other than personal language learning.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

6. Service Availability

EngKor is an early-stage, actively developed product. We do our best to keep the Service available and your data safe, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access, and features may change as we improve the product. We will give reasonable notice before any change that materially reduces what your enrollment includes.

7. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, EngKor is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months before the claim arose.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. If we make material changes, we will notify active members (e.g., by email) before the changes take effect.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
